MRD League Commissioner

Born and raised in Midland, Tx. Mr. Alexander is a dedicated and results-driven leader with a background in Education and Athletics. Husband and father of 4, Mr. Alexander is also passionate about enriching and motivating students, emphasizing success and understanding. Experienced Athletic Director and coach in Football, Track, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Softball, Mr. Alexander is committed to student achievement and development. Skilled in communication and team collaboration, with a focus on education, character, fitness, and teamwork at all levels is something we continue to value here at MRD, P5SL and Round Up Inc.

MRD (Midland Rec Division) was created to provide a structured, school-based athletic experience that develops student-athletes not only on the field, but in the classroom and in everyday life. Operating directly within Midland elementary schools, MRD offers Flag Football and Cheer programs designed to be inclusive, organized, and rooted in character, accountability, and community pride. Each participating school fields teams across multiple age levels, ensuring athletes compete alongside classmates while representing their school with integrity and sportsmanship.

MRD’s athletic structure includes age-appropriate formats to support proper development at every stage. First and second graders participate in a 9v9 Flag Football program focused on fundamentals, teamwork, and learning the game in a safe and positive environment. Third through sixth graders compete in 7on7 Flag Football, where athletes are introduced to more advanced concepts, strategy, and responsibility while continuing to emphasize fair play and discipline. In addition, MRD offers a unified Cheer program for grades one through six, giving student-athletes the opportunity to build confidence, leadership, and school spirit while supporting their teams and school community.

What sets MRD apart is its commitment to whole-athlete development. In addition to registration, student-athletes are asked to submit their most recent report card—not as a barrier to participation, but as a way to promote accountability, awareness, and growth beyond athletics. MRD believes that success in sports should reinforce positive habits in the classroom, helping athletes learn balance, responsibility, and time management. For fifth and sixth graders, MRD also introduces the 3C’s Character Development program, which focuses on building strong character through principles such as discipline, respect, and accountability, helping prepare athletes for leadership roles both on and off the field.

MRD would not be possible without the generous support and shared vision of our community partners. We are incredibly grateful to the Scharbauer Foundation, RoundUp Inc, and the Pow5r Sports League for their commitment to youth development and their belief in this mission. Their support has been instrumental in creating an opportunity for Midland students to grow through athletics, character building, and community connection.

MRD is more than a recreational league—it is a platform for developing confident athletes, responsible students, and future leaders, all while strengthening the bond between schools, families, and the Midland community.
